Successful Mid-term Conference

The COST733 mid-term conference was successfully organised at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland 22-25.October 2008. More than 100 scientists from 30 countries attended the conference, giving 88 presentations (40 oral presentations and 48 posters) within 10 sessions giving a broad overview of recent developments in weather and circulation type classifications and applications. COST 733 results and achievements were highlighted as well as invited key note presentations covering all aspect of weather and circulation type classifications and applications.

	COST733 was very visible during the 8th EMS annual meeting/7th European conference on applied climatology (ECAC) in Amsterdam 29.September - 3.October 2008. 6 presentations were given in session UC5 Synoptic climatology, highlighting the progress of the action excellently.
	COST733 presentation at the COST ESSEM monitoring event in Helsinki: 25.June 2008.
	The 6th Management Committee meeting of COST 733 was successfully held in Ioannina, Greece 9.-10-May 2008. The Action is showing steady progress. 27 different weather type catalogues are available for the evaluation analysis carried out in the action. 21 of these catalogues are scalable, and derived for 12 domain covering different regions in Europe. Version 1.1 of the dataset was released in February, and version 1.2 is expected to be released internally later this summer. A public release of the weather type catalogue dataset is prepared. 14.May 2008
